Chicken Parmesan is an Italian staple! Who doesn't love crispy, breaded chicken topped with tomato sauce, mozzarella, and Parmesan?!? Often served as a sandwich, it can also accompany a large plate of pasta. Yum-my!
So, this cross between a juicy burger and chicken parmesan...is basically a hybrid made in heaven!!!
This lightened-up classic, will give you all the feels of both burger night AND an Italian favorite! But, it's pretty freakin' healthy! For leaner burgers, stick with ground chicken or turkey; but, this would also work well with beef. Serve with some veggies and oven roasted fries- the perfect weeknight dinner!
It's not hard to see why chicken, tomato sauce, and Parmesan go so well together! Add some basil and you've got the Italian flag represented!
When cooking, leave them alone as much as possible. Do not flip too early. If the meat is sticking, it means that it hasn't finished cooking yet. When meat is ready, it should easily release from the pan. You can also add an egg or some bread crumbs to help bind the burger ingredients together.
Since chicken has little fat, you need something to help keep them moist. I like to finely grate onion directly over the ground meat. It basically becomes onion juice. In addition, I often add a little extra liquid- think soy sauce or coconut aminos. You could also try lemon juicy or a little mayo.
